The Role
You will own everything between our hardware and our users: BLE communication with the device, the mobile application, the product surfaces that sit above it, and the integrations that connect them outward. You are the person who makes hardware, cloud, and product feel like a single thing. This is a broad, high-ownership role, and it is on the critical path from the first week.
What You'll Do
- Own the link between our hardware and the mobile application
- Build and ship the app and the user-facing surfaces of int-bot
- Integrate with our backend and with selected third-party services
- Build the internal tooling we use to observe the system in the field
What You Must Have
BLE AND DEVICE INTEGRATION — NON-NEGOTIABLE
- Has shipped a production mobile app with BLE wearable device integration to a public app store. This is a hard requirement and the first thing we will check.
- Practical experience with GATT service and characteristic design, MTU negotiation, connection interval tuning, and the choice between notification and read patterns.
- Experience with background execution constraints on both iOS and Android, state restoration, and reconnection strategy after the OS has killed your process.
- Experience with battery-conscious sync scheduling and the tradeoffs it forces against data freshness
- Has diagnosed a connection problem that appeared only on particular handsets or OS versions, and can describe how you isolated it.
MOBILE AND FRONTEND
- React Native or Flutter in production, with the ability to drop into native modules when the cross-platform layer will not do what is needed.
- Modern web application development for the surfaces that do not live in the app.
- Offline-first data handling with a defined conflict strategy, plus authentication flows and token refresh.
- Instrumentation and remote logging sufficient to diagnose issues you cannot reproduce in the office.
- Able to own a feature from specification through to App Store or Play Console release.
BACKEND, INTEGRATIONS AND PRODUCT JUDGMENT
- 3+ years shipping production software across frontend and backend, with strong API design.
- Experience building against third-party APIs that are slow, rate-limited, or unreliable, with a considered retry and degradation strategy.
- Experience designing systems where an automated action has real-world consequences, including confirmation, reversibility, and audit trails.
- Consumer products, platforms, or internal tools built in fast-moving startup environments.
- Works closely with design to produce elegant experiences rather than merely functional ones, with clear judgment on tradeoffs between speed and quality.
- Privacy-conscious architecture for sensitive personal and health data.
- Background in computer science or electronics.

- Experience with ring, watch, or band form factors specifically
- Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) BLE work alongside cross-platform
- Over-the-air firmware update flows driven from a mobile app
- Conversational products, chat interfaces, or LLM-enabled applications
- Integrations with messaging ecosystems such as WhatsApp or other mobile-first surfaces
- Internal dashboard and data-visualisation work
- Prior work at a hardware startup before launch
