The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Non-Life Insurance Broker to lead business development and client advisory activities across Southern and Eastern Africa, with this role anchored in the Tanzanian market. This is a high-impact role for a proven business generator who thrives on building relationships, structuring complex insurance programmes, and driving growth across corporate and mid-market segments.
You will bring deep knowledge of niche insurance products, an established regional network, and the commercial acumen to structure tailored programmes for multinational and regional clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & New Business Generation
Identify, pursue, and secure new non-life insurance opportunities across Southern and Eastern Africa
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of corporate and mid-market clients
Develop strategic relationships with CFOs, risk managers, and business owners
Lead prospecting through networking, referrals, and market intelligence
Meet or exceed annual revenue and new business targets
Client Advisory & Insurance Placement
Assess client risk profiles and design tailored insurance programmes
Advise on risk management, coverage optimisation, and cost control strategies
Negotiate coverage terms, pricing, and conditions with insurers
Coordinate policy placement across regional and international insurance markets
Market & Insurer Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with local and international insurers and underwriters, including key players in the Tanzanian insurance market
Monitor market trends, pricing shifts, and emerging risks across the region
Leverage regional and global capacity to benefit clients
Account Management & Client Retention
Oversee servicing of key accounts to ensure a high-quality client experience
Lead client reviews and renewal strategy meetings
Support claims advocacy and resolution where necessary
Regional Expertise & Strategy
Provide insight into regulatory, economic, and insurance market conditions across Tanzania and the broader Southern and Eastern Africa region
Support expansion strategies into emerging markets within the region
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management, or a related field
Professional certifications such as ACII, FCII, or equivalent preferred
Valid insurance broking licence, in line with Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) requirements
10+ years' experience in non-life insurance broking or corporate insurance advisory
A proven track record of generating new non-life insurance business
Strong experience with corporate, industrial, or multinational clients
Demonstrated experience across the Tanzanian and/or broader Southern and Eastern African insurance markets
