Hardware Manager / Head of Hardware EngineeringAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Hardware Manager to own the complete lifecycle of hardware portfolio —from R&D and vendor sourcing through procurement, production planning, testing, configuration, deployment, and after-sales servicing. Our IoT devices (GPS trackers, electronic locks/seals, RFIDreaders and tags, and allied sensors) are the physical backbone of our supply chain platforms, and thisrole ensures every device that ships is reliable, well-configured, and supported in the field. You will leadthe hardware division and act as the bridge between vendors, the software/product teams, andoperations.Key ResponsibilitiesR&D & Product Development• Drive evaluation and addition of new hardware devices in to our catalog — new device categories, upgraded variants, and improvements to existing products (battery life, ruggedness, connectivity, cost)• Prototype, benchmark, and validate new devices and components against use cases andfield conditions• Work with software, QA and product teams to align firmware, device configurations, andplatform integration requirements• Track emerging technologies (sensors, connectivity standards, chipsets) and recommend adoptionwhere they create product or cost advantageVendor & Supply Chain Coordination• Identify, evaluate, and manage OEM/ODM vendors and component suppliers, both domestic andinternational• Manage purchase planning against demand forecasts• Define acceptance criteria and hold vendors accountable through incoming quality checks andstructured feedback• Support with documentation for compliance (BIS, WPC/ETA, CE, etc.) with specificationdocuments etc. as applicableProcurement & Production Planning• Coordinate the end-to-end procurement cycle: raise and track purchase orders, follow up ondeliveries etc.• Prepare production and procurement plans based on sales forecasts, project pipelines, and stocklevels• Manage BOMs, component sourcing, and kitting/assembly schedules for devices assembled orconfigured in-house• Plan vendor production slots and lead times against committed client delivery dates, flagging risksearlyTesting & Quality Assurance• Establish and run structured test protocols — functional, environmental, battery, connectivity, andfield trials — for new and incoming devices• Define QC processes for inward inspection, pre-dispatch checks, and batch-level quality tracking• Perform root-cause analysis on field failures and drive corrective actions with vendors and internalteamsConfiguration & Deployment• Own device provisioning: firmware versions, SIM/connectivity setup, platform onboarding, andclient-specific configurations• Build SOPs and tooling to make configuration repeatable, fast, and error-free at scale• Support installation planning and troubleshooting for large client rolloutsServicing & Field Support• Manage the repair, refurbishment, and RMA process — turnaround times, spare parts inventory, and warranty claims with vendors• Oversee inventory of devices, spares, and accessories across locations, with accurate stock andlifecycle tracking• Build a service escalation process and act as final technical escalation point for hardware issues inthe field• Track health metrics (failure rates, repair TAT, device uptime) and report to leadershipTeam & Process Leadership• Lead and grow the hardware team — technicians, testing engineers, and service staff• Define processes, checklists, and documentation across the hardware function• Coordinate with sales and project teams on feasibility, timelines, and hardware costing for newopportunitiesRequired Candidate Profile• 10+ years of experience in hardware/embedded product roles — hardware engineering, testing, production, or technical operations — ideally with an IoT or electronics product company• Strong understanding of embedded/IoT devices: microcontrollers, GSM/GPS/BLE/RFID modules, batteries, antennas, and basic firmware concepts• Hands-on experience with device testing, debugging (multimeter, basic bench equipment), androot-cause analysis• Proven experience managing vendors/OEMs, including quality management and commercialnegotiation• Experience in procurement coordination and production/material planning — PO management, demand forecasting, and inventory planning• Strong process orientation — able to build SOPs, QC systems, and inventory discipline from theground up• Willingness to travel for vendor visits, client installations, and field escalations• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical teams• Experience working with Chinese/overseas ODMs (highly desireable)• B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field
