We supply retailers and businesses internationally and are now looking to expand our relationships with major retail organisations, particularly in the US. The Role This is a new-business development (hunting) role, not existing-customer account management or telesales. The BDM will be given a defined list of predominantly North American retailers and will be responsible for identifying the relevant buying and procurement contacts, opening relationships, and creating genuine commercial opportunities. Although this is a hunting role, the BDM will also need good account management and organisational skills. You will be expected to network within each prospective retailer, establish and maintain relationships, and navigate between the various buying teams to build a pipeline of opportunities. Even after RFQs have been received, the BDM will work with the Commercial Director to execute them in a timely manner, and will follow up to ensure we remain on the prospective retailer’s radar. For many retailers on your list, we already know the relevant buyer or buying team; for the rest, you will identify them. You must be able to take these relationships forward professionally, maintain contact with the relevant buyers, and ultimately turn each relationship into a valuable quoting opportunity. The candidate must have a proven track record of communicating with and navigating through various retail accounts to obtain commercial opportunities. A particularly strong candidate will be able to give examples of taking a completely cold retail prospect and turning it into a meaningful commercial opportunity. Packaging experience is not essential, but candidates from the packaging industry are the most favourable outcome and would certainly qualify for the top end of our salary offer. However, we will consider any candidate who can demonstrate experience selling any product into North American or European retailers; this is the key. The position is fully remote from India. Candidates must be comfortable working independently and communicating regularly with our UK team, and must be able to work the hours above to communicate effectively with US customers. Essential Requirements: Excellent spoken and written EnglishProfessional telephone and video-meeting skillsConfidence dealing with senior buyers and procurement professionalsProven outbound new-business development experienceAbility to research organisations and identify decision-makersExperience generating their own opportunities rather than relying primarily on inbound leadsStrong cold-email and cold-calling capabilityPersistence and professional follow-upStrong commercial awarenessGood organisational and CRM disciplineAbility to work independently from homeWillingness to work the hours needed for effective communication with US-based customersHow to apply:1️⃣ Fill out this form: https://lnkd.in/gQp6yFsb2️⃣ Email your updated resume to [email protected]
