Senior Test Engineer - Video Domain

Job Role & Responsibilities

  1. Review and understand solution requirements and their objectives.
  2. Develop functional and non-functional test scenarios and test cases.
  3. Review test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  4. Prepare and maintain test environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
  5. Execute test cases and analyze test results.
  6. Plan and execute performance, load, stress, scalability, resilience, failover, interoperability, and security testing.
  7. Identify system bottlenecks and provide performance benchmarking reports.
  8. Analyze application, infrastructure, database, network, and cloud platform performance metrics.
  9. Validate cloud-native and containerized deployments.
  10. Verify system behavior under failure and recovery scenarios.
  11. Find defects, report them, and track them until closure.
  12. Collaborate with automation engineers to automate test cases and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
  13. Support release validation and production readiness activities.
  14. Participate in retrospectives and provide recommendations for continuous improvement in testing methodologies, tools, and automation frameworks.
  15. Mentor junior team members and contribute to test process optimization.

Specific Expertise Required

  • 5-15 years of hands-on experience in system integration testing, E2E solution validation, and non-functional testing.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or equivalent programming languages.
  • Strong experience in Linux administration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
  • Experience designing, reviewing, and executing complex test scenarios and test cases.
  • Experience in test bed installation, configuration, and environment management.
  • Strong experience in test automation frameworks and automation strategy development.
  • Experience in identifying, reproducing, and reporting defects with detailed root cause analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in IPTV/OTT solution testing.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and distributed systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities across application, platform, infrastructure, and network layers.
  • Experience in performance, load, stress, scalability, endurance, and resilience testing.
  • Experience in security testing and vulnerability validation is desirable.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
  • Experience validating microservices-based and distributed architectures.

Technical / Functional Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience validating cloud-native applications and services.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration platforms.
  • Experience testing applications deployed in AKS, EKS, GKE, or OpenShift environments.
  • Experience validating auto-scaling, high-availability, failover, and disaster recovery scenarios in cloud environments.
  • Experience working with cloud monitoring and observability platforms, solving field issues.
  • Good testing experience in the video domain including IPTV, OTT, Live TV, VOD, EPG, Content Management, Subscription Management, DRM, STB, CDN, and Multi-CDN solutions.
  • Good knowledge/experience in video streaming technologies including ABR, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Smooth Streaming, and CMAF.
  • Good knowledge/experience in audio & video testing (MPEG Audio, AAC/HE-AAC, AC3/E-AC3, MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, HEVC/H.265, AV1, HDR technologies).
  • Strong experience in non-functional testing including performance, load, stress, endurance, interoperability, scalability, and resilience testing.
  • Strong knowledge in networking protocols including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, ICMP, ARP, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
  • Knowledge and experience in Linux and Windows platform installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience in streaming protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, RTP, and RTSP.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across application, platform, and network layers.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in containerized and cloud-native environments using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience testing applications deployed in Kubernetes platforms such as AKS, EKS, GKE, or OpenShift.
  • Experience validating high availability, failover, auto-scaling, and disaster recovery scenarios in cloud environments.
  • Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk, or Datadog is desirable.
  • Strong automation skills using Python and test automation frameworks.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines is desirable.
