Overview

A leading financial institution in West Africa is seeking a Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to drive digital growth, product innovation and market penetration.

This is a senior executive role responsible for shaping and executing the bank’s digital strategy with a strong focus on commercial outcomes, customer adoption and revenue growth. The successful candidate will bridge business and technology, leading digital transformation initiatives that enhance customer experience and expand digital channels across retail and corporate segments.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the bank’s digital strategy aligned with business growth objectives
• Drive digital product development across mobile, online, payments and lending platforms
• Lead initiatives to increase digital adoption, customer acquisition and revenue generation
• Oversee the full digital product lifecycle from concept to launch and optimisation
• Collaborate with business units to embed digital solutions across all customer segments
• Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary digital teams
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with fintechs, telcos and technology providers
• Monitor digital performance through KPIs, analytics and reporting frameworks
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, data protection and risk management standards
• Champion a culture of innovation, agility and customer-centricity

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in banking or financial services
• Proven track record in digital banking, channels, payments or product leadership
• Strong commercial orientation with experience driving revenue growth and digital adoption
• Experience leading large-scale digital transformation or digital business units
• Deep understanding of mobile banking, digital payments and financial ecosystems
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate at executive level
• Experience working with or within leading regional banks in Africa is highly desirable
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks within emerging markets is advantageous
