AI Engineering Lead - (Client Site)
Mumbai, India
Full time
AI Engineering Lead - (Client Site) About Client Client is an AI-first technology partner built exclusively for financial institutions. We design, build, and deploy AI systems across lending, credit, trading, insurance, reconciliation, and wealth management. We don't ship pilots - we ship production systems that meet the compliance bar regulated institutions demand. Transform Businesses with Technology and AI. About the Role You'll lead client AI pod embedded inside a financial institution's engineering organization - a team of forward-deployed AI Engineers building agentic systems for the client's software development lifecycle, plus AI applications for their business use cases. You are the pod's architect and its most senior engineer. You decide how solutions get built, you build the hard parts yourself, and you're accountable for everything the pod ships. This is a hands-on role. Roughly 60–70% of your time is engineering - architecture, the critical path, the parts nobody else on the pod can do yet. The remaining 30–40% is planning, prioritisation, review, and client coordination. If you're looking for a role where you stop writing code, this isn't it. You'll work closely with Client’s Engineering and Product leaders on project planning and sprint definition, with a dotted line to the client's technical leadership. What You'll Own Architecture & Technical Direction ● Own the solution architecture for everything the pod builds - agentic SDLC systems and AI applications alike● Choose the stack: agent frameworks vs. established SDKs (Claude Code, Agent SDKs), orchestration patterns, retrieval strategy, model selection, eval approach - and defend those calls to Vecton and to the client● Design the context layer: how agents get codebase insight, integration docs, client standards, and prior decisions at the right moment● Set the engineering standards the pod works to - repo structure, eval harnesses, prompt/tool versioning, deployment patternsHands-On Build ● Personally build the critical path: the hardest agent, the orchestration spine, the piece with the most technical risk● Prototype fast when a direction is unproven - de-risk before the pod commits sprint capacity to it● Stay deep enough in the code that your reviews are real reviews Team & Delivery ● Review the pod's work - architecture, code, prompts, agent behaviour, evals● Guide FDEs technically: unblock them, correct direction early, raise their ceiling● Be accountable for what the pod delivers - quality, timelines, and whether it actually gets used● Run sprint planning and prioritisation Leadership Alignment ● Work with client engineering leaders to identify and qualify use cases● Translate client problems into scoped, sequenced technical work● Present architecture and solution design to client architects, security, and technical leadership What We're Looking For ● 6–10 years of software engineering experience, including senior/lead ownership of production systems end to end● Deep fundamentals - system design, API design, testing, CI/CD, debugging production issues at scale. You need these to build agents that operate on real codebases● Strong hands-on AI engineering: LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen), vector databases and embedding pipelines● Track record of shipping AI systems to production - not experiments● Python depth and real working knowledge of at least one full stack (MERN/MEAN or Java/Spring Boot)● Experience leading a small engineering team● A clear, defensible point of view on where AI genuinely accelerates the SDLC and where it doesn't - you'll be asked to justify it by client architects who are sceptical by default.

Sr. Java Developer – AI Projects (Client Site)
Mumbai, India
Full time
Sr. Java Developer – AI Projects (Client Site) About Client Our Client is an AI-first technology partner dedicated exclusively to financial institutions. Unlike conventional IT consultancies, we go deep into finance - designing, building, and deploying AI-enabled solutions that span lending, trading, insurance, credit management, reconciliation, and wealth management. What sets us apart is our ability to combine deep domain specialization with execution speed. We don't deliver pilots - we deliver production-ready systems that accelerate digital transformation while meeting the strictest compliance and regulatory standards. We are guided by a clear set of values: speed with precision, domain depth in financial institutions, trust and compliance, partnerships over vendors, an AI-first mindset, and continuous improvement. Our motto: Transform Businesses with Technology and AI. About the Role As a Sr. Java Developer – AI Projects (Client Site), you will be client senior engineering presence embedded within the client's environment - owning the build, deployment, and production health of AI-enabled systems inside a regulated financial institution. Our central team designs and architects AI solutions for complex financial use cases. Your job is to turn those designs into hardened, production-grade Java services that run reliably inside the client's stack - integrated with their core systems, deployed through their release pipelines, monitored through their observability tooling, and compliant with their security controls. This is a forward-deployed, high-ownership role. You will not just write code - you will own builds, deployments, configuration, monitoring, and the automation of manual operational work. You will report to client central engineering team, with a dotted-line accountability to the client's technical leadership. What You'll Do ● Build and ship production-grade Java / Spring Boot services that expose, orchestrate, and integrate AI capabilities - LLM calls, multi-agent workflows● Own the full delivery lifecycle: development, code review, build, release, deployment, configuration management, and post-deployment support● Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, branching strategy, artifact management, and environment/config/secrets handling in line with the client's release governance.● Instrument and monitor services in production - logging, metrics, tracing, alerting - and drive RCA and permanent fixes for production issues.● Identify manual, repetitive operational work in the client's engineering and business processes and automate it.● Build integrations between AI systems and existing client applications, databases, message queues, and APIs - including core banking / LOS / LMS / CRM systems where applicable.● Provide technical inputs to solution design and effort estimation for new scope within the account.● Run technical walkthroughs and PoC demos that build client confidence.● Actively use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot or equivalent) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality. What We're Looking For ● 3–5 years of hands-on software development experience, with Java as the primary language.● Strong command of Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Data, dependency injection, and multithreading/concurrency fundamentals.● Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices; comfort with JSON, API contracts, versioning, and error handling.● Solid SQL and RDBMS experience (Oracle / PostgreSQL / MySQL); familiarity with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent).● Build and dependency tooling: Maven or Gradle; unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito).● Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and/or traditional app server deployments (Tomcat, WebLogic).● Working knowledge of large language models, prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic AI concepts.● Experience integrating LLM APIs into backend services - ideally via Java-native frameworks (Spring AI, LangChain4j) or by consuming Python-based AI services.● Genuine curiosity about the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and the initiative to keep pace with it.

AI Engineer
Mumbai, India
Full time
AI Engineer - Agentic Software Development (Client Site) About Client Our Client is an AI-first technology partner built exclusively for financial institutions. We design, build, and deploy AI systems across lending, credit, trading, insurance, reconciliation, and wealth management. We don't ship pilots - we ship production systems that meet the compliance bar regulated institutions demand. Transform Businesses with Technology and AI. About the Role Software development itself is being rebuilt around AI. You'll build the agents that do it - embedded inside a financial institution's own engineering organization. As a forward-deployed AI Engineer, you sit with the client's tech team and build agents that their engineers use every day to run their software development lifecycle: requirement review, architecture, planning, coding, review, deployment, debugging. Your users are professional engineers working on real systems, which sets a high bar - an agent that produces plausible-but-wrong output gets abandoned in a week. This demands strong software engineering fundamentals. You can't build an agent that reviews architecture or writes production code unless you deeply understand how architecture and production code actually work. Equally, you need a real point of view on where AI genuinely helps in the SDLC - and where it doesn't. You'll report into Client's central engineering team, with dotted-line accountability to the client's technical leadership. What You'll Build Agents across the client's SDLC, for example: ● Requirement agents - review BRDs/PRDs for gaps, ambiguity, and completeness of the proposed solution● Architecture agents - high-level solution architecture, security architecture, application-level LLD● Planning agents - decompose a project into precise, executable development tasks● Coding agents - pick up those tasks and write, test, and iterate on the code● Review agents - code and PR review against the client's standards, patterns, and security expectations● Deployment agents - pipeline execution, release checks, environment handling● Diagnosis agents - pull logs, traces, and metrics via the right tooling to isolate and debug failures And the layer that makes them work: ● Context orchestration - designing how each agent gets the right context at the right time: codebase insight (repo indexing, observability/Grafana data), third-party integration docs, the client's internal standards, prior architectural decisions● Harness decisions - evaluating build-your-own vs. established agent SDKs (Claude Code, Agent SDKs, and similar), and owning that call with clear reasoning● Skills, tools, and references - building the tool definitions, skills, and reference material that move agent output from "plausible" to "actually correct" for this client's stack● Evaluation - defining what "good output" means for each agent and measuring itBeyond agentic SDLC You'll also build AI-centered applications for the client's business use cases - LLM-backed workflows, RAG systems, and multi-agent solutions running inside their infrastructure and compliance boundaries. What Being Forward-Deployed Actually Means ● Learn the client's stack, repos, CI/CD, ticketing, coding standards, and release process well enough to encode them into agents● Work directly with their engineers and tech leadership to find where agents will actually save time - and where they won't● Build inside their constraints: on-prem or VPC-hosted models, data residency, code that can't leave their network, audit requirements● Drive adoption - demo, onboard, gather feedback, iterate; usage is the success metric, not delivery● Contribute to solution proposals, effort estimates, and PoC demos alongside client central team● Feed patterns, components, and learnings back into Client knowledge base What We're Looking For ● 3–6 years of strong software development experience - you've designed, shipped, and maintained production systems, not just prototypes● Solid fundamentals in system design, API design, testing, version control workflows, CI/CD, and debugging production issues● Python proficiency for AI/ML workloads, plus working knowledge of at least one full stack (MERN/MEAN or Java/Spring Boot)● Hands-on with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or equivalent)● Practical experience with vector databases and embedding-based retrieval (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector)● A working thesis on how AI is changing software development - where it genuinely accelerates work, where it fails, and why● Daily user of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) - you should be able to describe what they do well and where they break down● Ability to hold your own with senior client engineers and architects, and comfort with ambiguity - much of this doesn't have an established playbook yet.
