About the Company
Our client is a leading European sports apparel company headquartered in Switzerland, designing, manufacturing, and distributing premium sportswear and performance apparel across multiple international markets.
Finance Director will oversee all financial activities of the Romanian factory and act as a trusted business partner to local operations and Group Management.
Position Summary
The Finance Director will be responsible for the overall financial management, control, reporting, and performance optimization of the manufacturing entity in Romania. The role combines traditional finance leadership with operational business partnering and requires deep expertise in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
Lead all finance activities of the Romanian manufacturing entity.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.
Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, IFRS principles, and local statutory requirements.
Manufacturing Finance & Cost Control
Own product costing and manufacturing cost accounting processes.
· Monitor and analyze: labor efficiency, material consumption, factory overhead absorption, production variances, standard cost performance
Drive cost reduction initiatives in partnership with Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
Provide financial evaluation of manufacturing CAPEX investments and process improvements.
Inventory & Working Capital Management
Ensure robust inventory controls and valuation processes.
Lead physical inventory counts and cycle-counting programs.
Improve working capital performance through effective inventory management and cash forecasting.
Business Partnering
Support operational decisions with data-driven financial analysis.
Challenge and support management teams in achieving productivity and profitability targets.
Develop KPIs and dashboards for factory performance monitoring.
Planning & Performance Management
Lead annual budget, forecast, and long-range planning processes.
Deliver monthly variance analysis and management reporting.
Prepare business cases and investment appraisals.
Support strategic initiatives, capacity expansion projects, and efficiency programs.
Accounting, Tax & Compliance
Oversee local accounting and statutory reporting.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
Ensure full compliance with Romanian tax, VAT, payroll, and legal requirements.
Support transfer pricing and intercompany processes in collaboration with Group Finance.
Coordinate year-end audits and statutory filings.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop the local finance team
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
Professional finance qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA, or equivalent preferred).
10+ years of progressive finance experience.
Minimum 5 years in a senior finance leadership role within manufacturing.
Strong expertise in:
Cost accounting
Standard costing
Inventory management
Manufacturing KPIs
Budgeting and forecasting
Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge (SAP, Dynamics, Oracle, or similar).
Fluency in English and Romanian.
Preferred
Experience in apparel, footwear, textiles, consumer goods, sporting goods, or FMCG manufacturing.
Experience supporting export-oriented manufacturing operations.
Exposure to IFRS reporting.
Lean manufacturing or operational excellence experience.
