One thing I strongly believe in as a Customer Success leader is that appreciation shouldn't be reserved for big achievements. It should be part of our everyday culture.
I've seen how much a simple word of appreciation, a team shout-out, or recognising an individual's effort can mean. When people know their contributions are noticed, they feel motivated to do more.
But there's one important element: celebrate milestones that are defined upfront, measurable and objective.
For example:
✅ Completing customer onboarding within the committed timeline.
✅ Achieving 70% adoption of key product features within the first 30 days.
✅ Helping a customer achieve their first measurable business outcome.
✅ Turning around an at-risk account through proactive engagement.
✅ Receiving a positive customer appreciation email or testimonial.
Don't wait for the quarterly review to recognise these achievements. Celebrate them in weekly team huddles, share customer success stories, give a shout-out on team channels, and let people know that their efforts matter.
The impact goes beyond individual motivation. Consistent recognition builds ownership, accountability and a stronger customer-first mindset.
And when teams consistently deliver and communicate value to customers, trust grows. Trust drives engagement, and engagement creates the foundation for long-term retention.
My takeaway: Don't just celebrate the big wins. Build a culture where small wins never go unnoticed.
Because ultimately, happy and motivated teams create successful customers!
