Job Title: Project Coordinator – Greater Ghana Industry: Construction / Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Location: Ghana Salary: GHS 350,000 – GHS 500,000 gross per annum, depending on experience Role Purpose The Project Coordinator will coordinate the safe, timely, compliant and commercially disciplined delivery of a portfolio of construction projects across Greater Accra. The role provides oversight and support to Project Managers, integrates resources and corporate support functions, drives recovery of performance gaps, and provides senior management with reliable visibility of project progress, risks and required interventions. The successful candidate will operate at portfolio level, ensuring that individual projects are effectively mobilised, planned, resourced, controlled and delivered while maintaining strong standards across programme, cost, cash, quality, EHS and stakeholder management. Key Responsibilities 1. Regional Project Leadership & Governance Translate senior operational direction into clear project priorities, performance expectations and accountable actions. Maintain a consistent project review rhythm covering safety, quality, programme, cost, cash, resources, clients, risks and key decisions. Provide guidance and oversight to Project Managers while preserving clear project-level accountability. Identify and remove cross-functional obstacles within delegated authority. Escalate material project and portfolio issues promptly, together with practical options for resolution. 2. Project Mobilisation & Start-Up Coordinate project readiness covering organisation, approvals, site access, facilities, plant, materials, subcontractors, systems and support functions. Review mobilisation plans, responsibility matrices, initial programmes, procurement schedules, permits and key project risks before commencement. Ensure appropriate project controls, reporting systems and communication routes are established. Escalate unresolved start-up constraints that could threaten contractual milestones or safe execution. 3. Programme, Milestone & Recovery Control Review baseline and updated programmes, critical paths, look-ahead plans, production targets and project interfaces. Challenge unsupported progress reporting, unrealistic forecasts, delayed decisions and weak recovery assumptions. Require accountable recovery plans where projects deviate from agreed programme or milestones. Consolidate portfolio milestone status and escalate threats requiring senior intervention. 4. Construction Execution & Production Monitor site productivity, work-front readiness, sequencing, coordination and implementation of approved methods. Ensure Project Managers translate programmes into achievable weekly and daily production plans. Coordinate resolution of constraints involving design, access, approvals, materials, plant, labour and subcontractors. Promote disciplined execution without compromising safety, quality or contractual requirements. 5. Cost, Cash & Commercial Performance Review project budgets, commitments, cost-to-complete, margin outlook, cash requirements and commercial exposure. Coordinate project, commercial, quantity surveying and finance teams to support billing, certification, collections, variations and claims. Require credible explanations and recovery actions for adverse cost or cash variances. Escalate potential losses, unsupported forecasts and material commercial issues requiring higher-level approval. 6. Quality Management & Rework Prevention Ensure implementation of approved Project Quality Plans, inspection and test plans, method statements and appropriate records. Review NCR trends, test failures, snagging, rework, approvals and corrective-action closure. Work closely with project and corporate QA/QC functions while respecting their independent compliance responsibilities. Escalate recurring or material quality failures and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. 9. EHS Leadership & Compliance Demonstrate visible safety leadership and ensure EHS requirements are integrated into project planning and execution. Review high-risk activities, permits, inspections, incidents, environmental controls and corrective actions. Support EHS personnel in applying required standards and stop-work authority. Plant, Materials & Logistics Readiness Coordinate requirements for plant, vehicles, materials, fuel, spares, transport and site logistics across the project portfolio. Review resource readiness against project programmes and resolve competing priorities with relevant functions. Monitor equipment availability, material shortages, delivery risks, storage and avoidable idle time. Escalate capacity gaps and significant hire or purchase requirements with appropriate operational justification. 11. Subcontractor & Supplier Performance Ensure subcontractors and suppliers are mobilised against agreed scope, programme, quality, EHS and documentation requirements. Review performance, resource sufficiency, delays, defects, claims and corrective actions. Provide operational input into procurement, certification, variations and supplier-performance decisions. Escalate persistent underperformance and recommend recovery, reinforcement, replacement or contractual action where appropriate. 12. Client & Stakeholder Relations Support Project Managers in maintaining professional, transparent and solution-focused relationships with clients and consultants. Participate in key progress, risk, recovery, technical and commercial meetings as required. Coordinate matters involving authorities, utilities, communities, access and other affected stakeholders. Ensure contractual commitments are made only through appropriately authorised channels. 13. Risk, Change & Contractual Management Maintain portfolio-level visibility of project risks, opportunities, changes, delays, notices, claims and decision deadlines. Ensure Project Managers maintain appropriate records and provide timely information to commercial and quantity surveying teams. Challenge unmanaged scope changes, informal instructions and unapproved commitments. Reporting, Handover & Continuous Improvement Produce concise portfolio dashboards covering progress, milestones, cost, cash, quality, EHS, resources, clients and risks. Validate project data, forecasts and action status before senior-management reporting. Coordinate completion, testing, snagging, handover, close-out and demobilisation readiness. Capture lessons learned, standardise effective practices and ensure agreed improvements are followed through to completion. Qualifications & Experience Education Bachelor’s degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Project Management or a related engineering discipline. Professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering, construction or project-management body would be advantageous. PMP, PRINCE2 or comparable project-management certification is highly desirable. Additional training in contracts, planning, cost control, quality or EHS would be an advantage. Professional Experience Minimum 10–15 years of progressive construction experience, including at least five years in a senior project or multi-project leadership capacity. Demonstrable responsibility for Project Managers and oversight of programme, production, cost, quality, EHS, clients, subcontractors and cross-functional support.
